Fruits, veggies and plants all have potent detoxification powers

In our daily lives we’re constantly bombarded with pesticides, chemicals, and other noxious fumes that we ingest as a result of driving, cooking, eating, cleaning our homes, washing our clothes, and even pampering ourselves.

This continuous ingestion of poisons can lead to a seriously lowered immunity, leaving us all more vulnerable to getting sick, because a lowered immune system makes us so much more susceptible to contracting bugs.

If we keep on consuming these toxins without taking regular breaks to purge our bodies, then we can enter into a nasty state of toxic overload, because although our kidneys and livers are fantastic natural filters, they simply weren’t intended to cope with the sheer amount of toxicity that will be levelled at most of us in the modern pollution filled world.

Supermodels who age gracefully know the harm that these toxins can do to their bodies, and because of this have become a big fan of regular detoxing, such as the astoundingly youthful looking Christie Brinkley, who recently celebrated her sixtieth birthday!  And us regular folk can enjoy the health benefits of regular detoxification too by using natural herbs to help purify our bodies, and taking a break from consuming overly processed foods.

Ideally, you should plan to detox for at least 5-7 days, but newbies and those with poor willpower can start at just 3 days.   During this time, you should aim to avoid all refined carbohydrates such as white bread and rice, as well as alcohol, caffeine, foods with added sugar such as biscuits and cakes, red meat, fizzy drinks, and fried food.  Aim instead to consume lots of lean protein such as fish or chicken, whole grains, and plenty of healthful nourishing vegetables and fruits, and swap that morning coffee for a more healthful cup of herbal tea if you can.

Personally I am surgically attached to my coffee mug in the morning, so that last part is particularly hard advice for me to follow, but if you are detoxing you should definitely try to at least limit your caffeine intake if you want to thoroughly cleanse your system.
